Hello my name is Krista.  I am a wife and mother and most recently I became a grandmother (Nanny).  I live in Launceston and for as long as I can remember I have had a strong passion and interest in birth.  When the opportunity arose for me to become educated in pregnancy, birth and postnatal care with the Australian Doula College, I instantly knew my heart had found a home.

A doula is a knowledgeable, passionate, unbiased professionally trained birth support.  We don’t provide any medical advice or perform medical procedures.  We are employed by you and work with you to best prepare you for the birth of your baby.  We support both the mother and father and believe in the mother’s ability to birth her baby her way.  We as doulas recognise birth as one of the most important life experiences a mother will ever have.

We understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labour.  We appreciate the importance of women and their partners having access to the right information, enabling them to make informed decisions.  We understand that whenever and however you give birth your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.

Studies have shown that women who birth with a one on one labour support person tend to have shorter labour, fewer complications, less need for pain relieving drugs and healthier newborns.  A doula is a wonderful form of pain relief who provides you with continuity of care and support through and after the course of your birth.

To witness not only the birth of a baby but also the birth of a mother and a father is a privileged and heartfelt experience that always takes my breath away. It is truly rewarding knowing I have been able to “hold the space” and create a trusting and safe environment both physically, emotionally and mentally.  To never lose faith in either partners ability to bring such a precious gift of life into this world is what makes my role as a Doula so fulfilling.

Once you are home with your baby I am also here to assist you with the transition into motherhood.  As wonderful and amazing as it is when a baby arrives we understand that some days are going to be more challenging than others.  A postnatal doula aids in reducing the overwhelm in those early days by caring for you and your family.  Our goal is to support you so that you can feel confident and enjoy life with Beautiful Baby.
