Birth Support

Our registered midwives support your pre-natal, birth and post-natal needs; options for a comfortable birth place; development of an informed birth plan; partner's/support person's active involvement; whole birthing education; emotional and clinical support; understanding of common procedures and midwifery practices; awareness that some circumstances require your choices to change.

Your Birth

When your labour starts we come to you as soon as you need us.  As your labour progresses you will have all the support you need and the reassurance of an experienced person with you.  When the time is right we accompany you into our comfortable birth centre or we look after you at home, whichever you decide.

We know that women’s bodies work smoothly in labour so we avoid unnecessary interventions.  We observe the progress of your labour very carefully so that we can take immediate action should any complications arise.  Being with someone familiar you can relax and concentrate on your labour, assured that your interests are being looked after.

We will help you through the demanding hours of labour by encouraging different pain-relieving positions and using warm towels on your back, or helping you into a lovely deep warm bath.  We also use massage and encouraging and soothing words.

After your baby arrives you will have all the time you need together before we assist you into the shower and bed for a much-deserved rest.  Clients using the Birth Centre may choose to stay for up to 24 hours after the birth.
